chelsea clinton wedding
When the Clinton family arrived in the upstate New York town of Rhinebeck to celebrate daughter Chelsea's marriage to Marc Mezvinsky, media from around the world followed. I was no exception, reporting for Fuji TV's Sunday prime time news magazine program, Mr.Sunday. With the private affair completely closed to press, the media circus inside the small town became the story, especially when President Clinton decided to work the crowd.
The local newspaper, the Hudson Valley News made a splash in the week leading up to the extravagant wedding, by securing exclusive photos of the wedding party site. I got in touch with the local reporter who was on that shoot, and Chris Lennon generously agreed to show me and my cameraman where they got the exclusive pics. I arrived the day before the ceremony, so security was much tighter than it was when the HVN team ventured through a wooded area and along railroad tracks to gain sight of the estate hosting the affair. Needless to say our antics ended up getting teased on the Hudson Valley News' special feature front-page, with How I Almost Got Arrested With a Japanese News Crew .
My report for Mr. Sunday, featuring a brief appearance from NY1's George Whipple !!, is on the left, and scans from the Hudson Valley News follow :
